Avoid close contact

  • HEERF II $1,868,479
  • HEERF III $7,285,632
    Totaling $11,022,590

The College has signed and returned the Certification and Agreement required by the Act and intends to use these funds to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to eligible students.

As of 3/31/2022, SWTJC has distributed $10,845,407 to students.

SWTJC estimates that over 5,000 students are eligible to participate in the emergency funding opportunity.

The total number of unduplicated students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under the guidelines of HEERF I, II, and III, as of 3/31/2022, is 7,509.  The average award has been $1,444.323.

SWTJC uses a method of student application and eligibility certification by its Financial Aid office to determine which students will receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants.

Each student receiving an Emergency Financial Aid Grant received the following notification and instruction from the Financial Aid Director:

We have completed an evaluation of your application for SWTJC Student
HEERF III. An activated award has been posted to your online
account. The award will be transmitted through the
arrangements you have made with your BankMobile account.

Money from the HEERF III is not considered financial assistance under
federal statute, nor Department of Education regulations. As such,
these funds will not impact your eligibility for regular financial
aid (e.g., grants, scholarships, loans).

If you owe an outstanding balance to Southwest Texas Junior College,
these funds will not be applied to any balance owed to SWTJC and will
be paid directly to you unless annotated on application.
