The Developmental Studies Division First Year Experience (FYE) Team was recognized as the Top Performing 4DX Team during the Sept. 11 to Oct. 11 calendar days in 2017.

The award is given to the 4DX team that demonstrates an outstanding level of success in achieving their team performance goals by college president Dr. Hector Gonzales.

Team Leader, Dr. Mitchel Burchfield, gives credit to the FYE Team members in Uvalde, which include Dr. Aide Escamilla, Vanessa Uriegas, Nikol Alejandro and Pat Kier. In Eagle Pass, Deanna Allen and Dorothy Steed in Del Rio for their impressive dedication to students.

Burchfield also mentioned that all faculty teaching developmental studies courses in Mathematics (MATH 0302, 0303,0309), Integrated Reading and Writing (INRW 0301 & 0302), College Success Skills (COLS 0300), and Learning Framework (EDUC 1100) courses are to be congratulated.

According to Dr. Amy Garcia, the 4DX Coach for the team, the team’s goals of holding at least one collaborative learning activity with students each week was an impressive contribution to the college’s Quality Enhancement Plan (Rise to the Top) which focuses on implementing high impact educational practices. For this reason, among others, the FYE Team performance indicators were judged to be this month’s top performing team. The team earns the right to display the Top Monthly Performing Team Banner that month.

Each month, the administration will review the performance indicators and identify the top performing team out of a field of 34 teams.

The 4DX initiative is part of SWTJC’s effort to improve all aspects of its operations by following the four Disciplines identified by the Franklin Covey Organization as being critical to success. Franklin Covey is a global company specializing in performance improvement.
