SWTJC basketball teams host Palo Alto College in home opener

The SWTJC Cowgirls and Cowboys hosted Palo Alto College Wednesday night (Oct.18) in their home opener for the 2017-2018 season.

The Cowgirls defeated Palo Alto College with a score of 82-51. After Wednesday’s game, the Cowgirls have a 2-0 record.

“We have been working hard for six weeks and it showed last night, said Luis Fernandez head coach. “Our girls executed our game plan and we were able to get the victory.”

Top scorers for the Cowgirls were Bianka Ramirez with 14 points, Annette Diaz and Yendi Camacho with 11 points each.

The Cowboys fell to the Palominos in overtime 81- 84, giving them their first loss of the season leaving them with a 1-1 record.

Top scorers were Zach Adair with 27 points and Daniel Martinez with 20 points.

The Cowgirls will see action on Monday (Oct. 23) when they take on Our Lady of the Lake team at 6 p.m. at La Forge Hall Gym in Uvalde.

The Cowboys will see action on Wednesday (Oct. 25) when they take on Texas A&M at San Antonio in Uvalde.
