Financial relief on the way for students impacted by COVID-19

Uvalde, TX, January 11, 2021 - Qualifying SWTJC students can expect another round of funding during the Spring 2021 semester through the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), which was passed last month by the U.S. Congress.

Under the CAA colleges and universities will receive up to $22 billion in addition to the $14 billion allocated under CARES.

Individuals wanting to qualify must be enrolled and have applied for FAFSA for the 2020-2021 academic school year.

“Regulations and amounts have not come down yet from the feds. We do know that they will need to have a current FASFA on file,” said Anne Tarski, vice president of finance.

The CAA will allow SWTJC to provide monetary assistance in the form of grants that do not have to be paid back by students experiencing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students will be able to apply for the grants via the college website.
