Cowboys lose to Northwest Vista on the road
The SWTJC's men's team fought valiantly against Northwest Vista on Wednesday night (Feb. 21) in San Antonio; however, they were unable to pull off the win, losing 103-112.
"Last night was a battle between two of the top five teams in the league. We got our offense rolling like we needed to, but the defense fell behind," coach Phillip Botello said. "Our defense usually holds teams to 80 points, and last night was a bit different."
Top scorers for the Cowboys were Rayshon Winn with 39 points and Jordan Zaruba with 21 points.
Despite the loss to Northwest Vista coach Botello said "We are still a new team, so we are continually learning, but we will make a run for the playoffs and the championship.
Next action for the Cowboys will be Wednesday (Feb. 28) in Uvalde at La Forge Hall Gym, where they take on San Antonio College.
The Cowgirls are scheduled to play before the men's, also hosting San Antonio College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m., and the men's game will follow immediately after the women's game.
