Del Rio campus announces Who’s Who and Leadership recipients
A total of 10 students were honored by the faculty and staff with Who’s Who recognition, during an awards ceremony during the spring semester in Del Rio.
SWTJC Del Rio campus honorees include Michelle Ansick, Tammy Buentello, Mariana DeHoyos, Ian De la Piedra, Aaron Escoto, Angela Martinez, Serina Rush, Robb Smith, Sandra Zamarripa and Suzzette Zermeno.
Who’s Who honorees are selected by faculty and administrators based on leadership, scholarship, and character. Students must be in good standing and enrolled in an average of 14 semester hours in two semesters or at least 14 semester hours if attending only one semester.
Leadership award winners from the Del Rio campus were also recognized at the ceremony. Sponsors of various college clubs and organizations choose recipients of “L” awards, which is a symbol of leadership and excellence and is awarded to club students who have made outstanding contributions through student organizations at Southwest Texas Junior College.
Winners include of the award include Melissa Castaño and Annick Ortiz, LVN Club; Robert Vasquez and Karla Nuñez, S.T.E.M. Club; Karla Nuñez, Danielle Arias and Naomi Martinez for Phi Theta Kappa.
This year, students had the opportunity to acknowledge and recognize their favorite faculty and staff member. Any student attending the 2018 Spring Semester was able to vote for one faculty member and one staff member, who has impacted them.
Winners include Sandra Moreno, administrative office assistant for Favorite SWTJC-Del Rio Staff Member and history instructor, Joshua Overfelt for Favorite SWTJC-Del Rio Faculty Member.
