College says in person classes returning Summer 2021

Uvalde, TX, March 3, 2021 - SWTJC President Dr. Hector Gonzales reported the return-to-campus plan for students, faculty, and staff during the board meeting on Feb. 25 via Zoom.

Gonzales stated staff would resume to a more on-campus presence beginning late April, while students and faculty would begin face-to-face instruction by the first summer session.

According to Gonzales’ report the college daycare, dorms, and cafeteria will open in a limited capacity by summer as well.

Summer classes will consist of 20 to 40 percent face-to-face, while fall classes are scheduled to be 50 to 70 percent in face-to-face format.

“We have made these recommendations in an effort to provide sufficient time for our teams to implement the appropriate protocols and mitigation efforts to support our return to campus,” said Gonzales. “I also wanted to give notice to our employees that are used to working in a remote setting and understand that there is a transition coming to go back to the way things used to be with some modifications.”

Registration for summer and fall classes begins April 5.
